Greggle Cottage in Framsden was built in the 1600's as two cottages (probably farm labourers cottages) and was converted into one cottage, modernized and extended about eighteen years ago. It is a typical Suffolk cottage with steeply pitched pantile roof, low ceilings, low doorways (be sure to duck) beams, and inglenook fireplaces. It stands alone overlooking rolling countryside.
The cottage is very easy to find being on the A1120 just outside the actual village on the road between Framsden and Earl Soham.
Being inland makes this the perfect place from which to explore Suffolk, both inland and the many places of interest on the coast. A thirty minute drive from Framsden can find you at Bressingham at the famous Steam Museum and Gardens, in Woodbridge where you can visit the Tide Mill, and take a walk along the river wall, in Sutton Hoo at the new Exhibition Centre on the far side of the River Deben, or in Aldeburgh, Southwold, Minsmere, Dunwich and the many other interesting places on the coast. We are also convenient for Snape Maltings, where the Aldeburgh Festival is held every Summer.
FRAMSDEN AND NEARBY VILLAGES
This area of Suffolk is called 'High Suffolk' being the highest part of the County above sea level. The villages in this area are particularly pretty, with many cottages (including Greggle Cottage) painted in the traditional Suffolk Pink. Both Debenham and Earl Soham, both only a few: minutes drive away are typical Suffolk villages. There are a number of pubs within a very short drive (five to ten minutes) which provide excellent meals, both lunch time snacks, and full evening meals every day of the week, at very good prices. Helmingham Hall is only a very shots distance away. During the Summer months the gardens are open to the public on Sunday afternoons, and if you like visiting gardens, they are well worth a visit.
The cottage offers 'cosy' accommodation. On the ground floor is a twin/double en-suite. This is at the back overlooking the garden and countryside beyond. Upstairs is a double room (again at the back} and single room. These two share a bathroom. There are tea and coffee making facilities and a television in each room.
Greggle Cottage is the ideal place to stay for anyone wanting to enjoy the peace and quiet of the Suffolk countryside. There are many places of interest nearby, or one can enjoy the countryside by taking a gentle walk along one of the many footpaths that cries-cross the area. One footpath actually goes through our garden. We have ample off road parking
