Comment: The study is the next floor to do, in chestnut parquet, which we fetched in our van from a sawmill in Lanaouille, about 50 km away.
The poplar ceiling in the corridor behind the Godin was finished.

Having cleaned the grout off the floors, now they will get dirty and dusty again because there is still so much woodwork to do, as well as sanding the oak and Fermacell joints. But I am borrowing a dust extractor to attach to my DeWalt saw and to the planer.

Kitchen floor after preliminary cleaning. The texture on the tiles makes them harder to clean.

Here Margaret is barrowing sand to put around the 5000 litre rain water cistern before they come and dump more hardcore to level up our terrace on the south. The roofer, Mr Marcelin Mazieres, has phoned us several times to ask how we are getting on. He must be short of work. He is ready to order the timber and tiles for the garage and auvent roof.

We are still waiting for Enterprise Faye to come and do the foundations and walls of the garage. They originally said they'd come in July and now it's the end of October. One problem has been that Francis Guinot, their 'chef de chantier', who started our house nearly 2 years ago, was elected Maire of St Front-la-Riviere, and he decided to take early retirement in October, before he could it through.

The mezzanine will shortly be floored in oak parquet, which we've ordered.

The random trail of some insect in the dust on the black floors. Probably some creature upside down, fluttering along, trying to turn over .

The t & g boarding on the north west mezzanine bedroom wall, in larch.

The start of the chestnut parquet on douglas fir joists in the study with hemp insulation. This floor over the studio in the sous-sol is being insulated. My studio will be heated intermittently, but this level will be continuously heated and so the heat loss downward is minimised.
