A hole near the top (to be covered with a metal grille) extracts a considerable amount of hot air to the mezzanine, improving the output of the fire. All the wiring and lighting was installed and temporary incandescent bulbs put in for testing. Final light fittings will all have low energy bulbs - many of them LEDS.
