By the beginning of November the leaves started turning yellow and falling.
The sun was lower and days shorter.
Bath and duct panels finished.
The oven in its housing ready to be wired in...
...on the box that gives headroom over the stair down to the basement.
I spend days in the roofspace looking for gaps in the envelope and insulation and sealing them with 'breather' membrane to eliminate unwanted air infiltration.
The solid birch doors from Leroy Merlin, here needed solid panels fixing ..
...and translucent toughened glass glazing, here to the bedroom and bathroom area.

The weather turned chilly and using the fire provoked a change in design of the 'hearth'.....
...and we decided to have a tiled shelf just underneath it . I made a welded steel angle frame, here shown as a mockup to work out the height. It will have wood storage underneath
The interior of the shower and soap recess was painted with special waterproofing compound under the tiling.
The kitchen was plumbed in and we moved in to have tea and lunch.
The rains started after a long dry Autumn, and the time had come to fill the rain water cistern. I had to find the manhole to put in a filter.
A home made filter with acacia rot proof frame which I hope will last. It is reputed to outlast teak.
The receiver from the gutters (via a chain) custom made from large heavy plastic basin, cut down to size....
.. connected to drains cast into slab under 'auvent'

.. with an additional filter on it to exclude leaves.
Kitchen fittings fitted with skirtings....
...and oak thresholds at the door between the changes of tiles.
The search continued for points where air infiltration could happen around wall panelling and skirtings.
Another weak point is around the chestnut filling between the beams in bedroom and study.
At this point I decided to move my 'workshop' downstairs to the basement ...
... into the room that will be my printmaking studio.
Nearly 3 years after the larch cladding on the western gable was done and treated with 2 coats of linseed oil....
...it still looks OK - partly because of the roof overhang.
